Looking Back at Laura's First Shooting Experience

Looking back once again at another episode this time brings us to Episode 2 – Laura’s First Time Shooting.  This day was not originally intended to be recorded, but instead just to expose another person to the sport.
Laura was a relatively new person in my life, introduced me to through a friend, and given they she has never met anyone who was a hunter, or a target shooter, she was one of those rare folk that did not initially say, “guns are bad, mmmmkay!” or “hunting is evil, just go buy what you need at the grocery store!”  She bombarded me with question of when, why, and where.
Actually our conversation was interrupted by a raccoon out the window stealing goldfish from a pond, but not for long as it was a perfect example of my moral stance towards nature.  Well, perhaps, but more so just that I despise raccoons.  But anyways, that lead to the debate of ‘offing’ the raccoon, or trapping it and hanging it over to animal control.  Naturally, being Canadian, I’d just reach for the closest hockey stick and run at subject while shaking the stick above my head and screaming nonsensical noises and sounds with the intention of frightening it away.

But what it it’s one of those ‘domesticated’ raccoons that for some reason are not afraid of humans and would gladly let you bludgeon it to pulp?  Well...that’s a question for each individual to answer.  To keep from breaking any bi-laws I would suggest it is time for a non-lethal trap, or perhaps a box propped up with a stick and a string tied to said stick...
Whooooaaaaa tangent thoughts...Pardon me; tend to get a bit caught up in this stream-of-consciousness style of writing sometimes....
Anywho!  So ultimately I convinced Laura I wasn’t a cold blooded killed who kills Bambi’s mother just to be a narrative device that makes Bambi cry and be propelled into an educational adventure!  And we went shooting!  And somehow, she agreed to let me document the entire thing on camera!  All and all she has turned out to be quiet the rad gal!  That enough blabbering from me, as the footage speaks for itself, but here is a few words from Laura on her experience;
“Going to the shooting range with Tom was a lot of fun! I had never shot or even held a gun before, and I didn’t know what to expect, but it turned out to be a great experience! Tom walked me though the steps of how to hold, load, and shoot a variety of different types of guns and he warned me about the kicks! He set up balloon targets for me to aim at, but the only balloon I hit was when I used the shotgun where, really, it would be harder to miss than hit. I look forward to going back to the shooting range and working on my aim!”  --Laura

As always, enjoy the footage and have a nice day!

Cheers!
