The Ocean Floor (Video)

My first ocean dive of 2012.

Water temperature was approx 50 degrees on the surface and dropped to about 45 degrees as we approached the 30 feet underwater mark. Visibility was moderate, and this was also the first scuba dive I did with the new GoPro Dive Housing, so in return I was still adjusting to using it with a tethered head-strap.  I no-longer prefer such a method and in a few videos you will see that I decided to mount the camera to my flashlight, which allowed me to capture smoother footage.

On this dive, you will see; my dive buddy, hermit crabs,  rock crabs, starfish, jellyfish, lobsters, sea-urchins, mollusks and more!

The dive was a typical season opener type dive.  Once again, I did not bring enough weight (I was more buoyant this year than last) *drums on own belly* and had to stuff a big rock in the pocket of my buoyancy control device, which resulted in me being off balance, being pulled down from the side, and therefore not comfortable and a drop in footage quality.  Regardless, I got some great footage, and here is some of the best!

The dive was 80 minutes long, and when I trimmed down to just the footage I thought was great and I wanted to share, it was still 18 minutes long.  So, I cut away even more footage and got the video down to less than 7 minutes.  I am contemplating releasing "director's cut" or "un-cut" versions of each of my dives, but I suspect I'll just use the footage in a documentary I am working on about the Atlantic Coast!

Back in the Atlantic (Video)

The first free-dive I did while on a trip to the East Coast of Canada!  In this video you shall/have see/seen; my feet...Rock Crabs, Refractive Plankton, Jellyfish, a Kayaker, Lobster Traps (plus bait), Seaweed, Sand Lances (mini-fish), a Cocker Spaniel (mini-black dog).  Enjoy!
